ABOUT
Even at a young age, Ashley Rose is an old soul, writing and singing about life, love, loss, and the in between. Her music is about the real stuff, with lyrics that are honest in a conversational way and riding on beautiful, memorable melodies. Influenced by all genres of music, Ashley cut her teeth on artists who spoke to her about being hopeful for love, melodies that touch the heart, and lyrics that tell it like it is.
She brings a style of sophistication and bold, old style glam to her performances with her sensuous voice while her piano playing charms audiences with a flavor of country, jazz, and blues. As a singer, she is a self described anti-vocal grand stander. She sings her songs her way. Ashley says, “At this stage of my life, I’m not afraid to make the music I love and say what I want to say. I’m not trying to fit into a mold any longer, I want my music to be relatable and real.”
Her story begins in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Ashley had the opportunity to sing in front of her school in a program and this inspired her to start writing songs. Fast forward to age eleven, she won a contest to sing “What Made You Say That?” on stage with country superstar Shania Twain in front of 17,000 people. A galvanizing moment, she fell in love with performing and knew that making music was what she wanted to do with her life.
It was after this performance that Ashley was introduced to a local band called Wild Heart and began singing lead with them at just twelve years old. At sixteen, she joined the band Shiloh and captured the Madison Country Music Award for female vocalist three times in a row.
At eighteen, she made the move to Nashville and attended Columbia State College for commercial performance. She quickly got connected to the Nashville music scene, playing piano and singing backup for Big Machine recording artist Justin Moore. She began writing with some of Nashville’s hit songwriters learning the ropes and the craft. Soon she began to get cuts with indie artists and also land placements in TV and film. She continues to be inspired by life experiences, and artists’ music across the board like Brandy Clark, Trisha Yearwood, Ashley McBryde, and Patsy Cline. As a songwriter, Ashley loves the storyteller part of the profession and process and continues to write with some of Nashville’s most awarded songwriters for her own releases.
When she’s not writing or performing, Ashley loves spending time with her two sons, traveling, and shopping for cool shoes.
